To celebrate their tenth anniversary, the charity organisation RIDERS (Riders for
Health) held a reception in the prestigious Hurlingham Club in London this week, with their patron HRH Princess Anne as guest of honour. The Princess Royal, to give her full title, met current Superbike World Champion Troy Corser, former champion James Toseland, plus comedian Ross Noble and industry supporters.
She spoke to Troy about his support for Riders for Health and his motorcycle racing. Troy was honoured when she asked him about the nine year gap between his two world titles and remarked that staying at the top level for so long was a considerable achievement.
Afterwards Troy said, "She was very easy to talk to and she seemed to know about motorcycle sport because of the comments she made. This was the first time I've ever met British royalty and I was impressed with the way she was able to talk to all of us and also her interest and dedication to Riders for Health.
I have been a supporter of Riders for Health for many years and will continue to do so for many years to come."
Later Troy tried out an Uhuru (one of the Riders for Health motorcycle
vehicles) in the Hurlingham Club car park. He managed to get the sidecar wheel off the ground without difficulty and then he took Riders for Health's Andrea Coleman for a spin.
