Just before the Monza round of the Superbike World Championship, Troy took delivery of a Lamborghini Diablo VT. The car, finished in a striking shade of bright yellow, was on loan to Troy whilst his own Lamborghini is being prepared. Troy used the car to get around from his hotel to the circuit daily and will have full use of the supercar until his new Lamborghini is ready. Troy: Of course, my car had to be Italian. I've been talking to Lamborghini since last year and when they offered me the use of a car in Australia and Europe and I said yes. At Phillip Island, I was in a dark blue one and, when the rainstorms were lashing the circuit, I wished I could've gone round the track in it instead of being on a bike! They're great fun to drive and the engine sounds so good you don't need to switch on the stereo! You just listen to the music of the V-12, especially as it's just behind your head. My own new Lambo
wasn't ready in time for Monza, so I had the use of the yellow one
you can see in the photos. That was good, but my new one is going to be
even better. When I visited the factory I went out for a drive with their
chief tester. He's not young, but quick and safe. When I took over, I
think he was a bit surprised how quickly I understood the car. Later,
the factory asked me if I'd like to test one of their race versions at a
track - and maybe a race at the end of the year - so of course I said yes!
I'll let you know how I get on. |
