On the Thursday before the first day of practice for the sixth round of the 2001 Superbike World Championship at Donington, Troy joined fellow racers, mechanics and journalists for a charity game of golf on behalf of the charity Riders for Health. Troy's foursome featured his motorhome driver Chris Jenzten, plus two others in an eighteen-hole tournament at a club not far from Donington. The whole event took place in superb sunny conditions and although it was a long day, Troy enjoyed himself away from the pressures of the racetrack. At the end of the day, nobody was sure who exactly had won the tournament, but one winner was clear Riders for Health. Troy: It was a long, hot day but a lot of fun. I've probably only played once this year, so I was hardly the best out there. Especially as there were a couple of semi-pros playing. But Riders for Health is a good cause I wear their sticker on my leathers and I am happy to support them in any way I can. The course was quite good, but there was a lot of difficult rough and when I was in it finding the ball was not so easy! It was a real fun day, even though
we managed to get the golf buggy up on two wheels and tip KO
(my personal trainer and caddy for the day) out of it and onto the
ground! |
