'I like the South Coast of Australia. It's a great place to enjoy life and it's got something for everybody - the sea and the countryside. I used to live about six kilometres from the centre of Wollongong. It is not really a big city. It is an industrial city and still growing, but not like Sydney or Melbourne or anything like that. It is fairly relaxed and people are very down to earth. I get recognised there on the streets, but I don't get pestered - certainly not like some places in Europe for example. I can be normal there and I wish I could be there more often. But, being a professional racer means a lot of travelling, so I don't get the chance to spend as much time there as I'd like. For me, it's very important to spend time with my family, so I take every opportunity I can to be with them.

'Australia's South Coast is a great place to grow up in. There are lots of opportunities and because there are so many mixed communities it's fairly easy going. The rate of violence is very low, so I always feel pretty safe there.

Australia is a country where, if you are prepared to work hard, you can develop well. But of course, one of the great things about it is the climate and that's why Aussies all like the country and the sea. A lot of our culture revolves round the outdoor life, whether it is camping, touring or spending time at the seaside surfing or just having a good time around the barbecue - an Aussie legend!

'It's a good country for motorcycle racing because there are so many small clubs and places to ride - we've got heaps of space compared to most of Europe - and it's easy to start riding at an early age. Local racing is not really well covered in Australian press, but it's improving all the time. Certainly when Aussie racers get to International level, they get much better coverage.

'Australia's South Coast is a great place for a holiday. The scenery is beautiful and there are heaps of attractions - all easy to get to. The travelling is safe and it's a great place for biking, so why don't you check it out sometime. If it coincides with a race all the better, but if it doesn't you'll still have a good time. And that's a promise'.
