Like most racers, Troy likes to spend time in familiar surroundings - somewhere where he can relax. And when Troy is not visiting family and old friends in Australia, or on the road, his home is a luxury penthouse apartment in Fontvieille, Monaco. Monaco is home to many sports stars. F1 driver David Coulthard, Wayne Gardner and multi-world 500 cc Champion and fellow Aussie Mick Doohan are all close neighbours. Troy lives in Monaco because of its central location and because it is easy to travel from there to all areas. "From Monaco, I can get practically anywhere in Europe easily" explained Troy, "and because there are many other sports people around, it's a fun community." There are tennis players and soccer stars around here and it's great fun mixing with other sports people. There are lots of good restaurants, clubs and discos and there's always something to do if you want to. "The apartment is on Fontvieille port: from the rooftop garden you can see the mountains and the sea. In fact, I'm very well situated for everything. The heliport - is within walking distance, so that makes life easy; I can get to Nice airport from there in ten minutes or so." "The climate is a bit similar to Australia - the weather is good all the time and it never seems to get really cold. I enjoy being here and I intend living here even when I've finished racing."
