About 9,30pm last night Kalani went to sleep and me and Sam went into overdrive: there were lots of pressies to be wrapped and A LOT of balloons to be blown up. We wanted the apartment to look special for Kalani when he woke up as at this age it's difficult to explain the whole birthday idea to them. The moment he came out of the room this morning and spotted the first balloon his face was a picture. He just knew something special was going on.
As with all one year olds, he has been totally spoilt, by us and everyone. He still has about half of his presents to open!!!
It's hard to believe that 1 year has passed already. We checked out some video last night from when Kalani was just days/weeks old. Its just amazing to see how much he's grown. And now, looking back, you can see even some of those funny expressions that newborns make are still part of his make up now.
Its been a very proud day for me as a Dad to see my little boy, walking around laughing and looking at his presents. He has such a wonderful little character and such a strong will that when you see that smile light up his face you really know he's happy. I see that look light up his whole face every day and it makes my day.
