Sports central
Since we have been back from Misano we have been spoilt with all the activities going on here in Monaco: firstly Sam and I were very honoured to be invited as Prince Albert's guests to the Chelsea/Monaco football match for the Champions League and much enjoyed celebrating their victory with them until the early hours. I have had the pleasure of meeting Prince Albert on several occasions and he is a really great guy. Very down to earth and always really interested in the sport. I never have to tell him how the last race went as he always knows. That's really something special about Monaco that you just couldn't imagine anywhere else, the great relationship between the royalty and the principality.
Then, spoilt again, we were invited by the HSBC bank and our friend Adriano Calvo to the Masters of Monaco Tennis Tournament. I particularly wanted to see Henman and, of course, Leyton Hewitt play and was lucky enough to catch both of them. I left centre court while Hewitt was making a great come back against Schuettler so at least I didn't have to see the defeat. We took Kalani with us to see that and he thought it was all great. We saw Prince Albert again there, who took time out to come and chat and have a few words with Kalani! The only difficult things was keeping Kalani quiet during the play! He loves to babble away now. We were teaching him the basic movements of the game, serving and hitting, which he was finding all very entertaining. We thought it might be another possible career path for him. You just never now where these interests stem from do you. Although, I am sure we are kidding ourselves, we got back to the apartment to find a repeat showing of the Misano race 1 which he chose to watch from just in front of the TV banging his hands on the screen, shrieking away when I was in the lead. So funny. I will be bringing all my good luck charms with me to Monza too. |
