A month of testing
Firstly my apologies for the delay since my last entries in Troy's weekly. The past month has been very busy for me. Myself and my team have now started what we hope will be a very intensive and fulfilling winter testing programme and things are really going better then can be expected.
I have made four tests so far, Silverstone, Donington, Lausitzring and Almeria and the bike has been improving on very outing. With only one of these tracks that I know well and two that I have never seen before there has been a lot to learn! New tracks, new team, new bike and back on Michelin tyres.
For me and all the team, including team mate James Haydon, we are learning more every day. At the last test I was regularly completing 70 or more laps each day and finished the test within a second of the fastest superbike time at the track. Not bad really. We still have a lot to learn about the bike and the engine and the more testing we have in the next few months the more competitive we will be at the start of the season next year.
Having a Michelin technician at the last test was also really helpful for us all to understand what the tyres are doing, knowing what to expect, and just simply having a better knowledge of the tyres Michelin have for us.
I have more testing again next week at Misano, a track I know well, so it will be a good track for me to realise the strengths and weaknesses of the bike.
I just have to hope that the weather is on my side!! |
