Keeping an eye open Down Under

Well, I can't actually get out there myself and race just at the moment but I have been keeping the fire alive through the eyes of Josh Forster, a young Aussie kid I support back in Australia.

Josh is the son of one of my first sponsors, Pete Forster at Peels Leathers. When I go back to Oz to visit my family I often spend time with Josh riding dirt bikes and stuff. I noticed he had talent a couple of years back and since then I've been keeping a keen eye on his progress and helping where I can.

Josh is currently doing the 2002 Exel Aprilia Challenge which is a 250cc production championship, like I used to do. Josh has actually just robbed me of my title of youngest ever Australian A grade rider!

He finished 3rd in the support race at Phillip Island this year at the World Superbike round. I hope he doesn't have his sights set on being the youngest SBK World Champ. I wanted to hang onto that for a while! Hoping to give Josh another little challenge, I recently put him out on my super-motard bike that I keep for training and sent him off to a local event. He finished on the podium! That's what I like to see.

Josh was leading the championship but he's been out of luck recently. Mechanical problems, and a huge crash during the last round, has pushed him back into a very close battle for the title.

Good Luck mate... the close wins are the best!
